Support for Scottish landlords

Scottish buy to let investors will now be able to seek guidance on mortgages and other professional issues following the launch of a new trade body.

The National Landlords Association Scotland is an extension of the UK-wide organisation which offers services such as specific advice, policy support and information to those investing in the rental sector.

The creation of the Scottish NLA, which the body has promised will have its own identity, has been hailed a critical development for the private-rented sector in Scotland.

The sector accounts for around eight per cent of households in Scotland. Recently the Scottish Parliament issued a green paper revealing its goal to balance safeguards for tenants’ interest and setting the right conditions to enable the sector to contribute towards providing more housing.

David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, said: “The NLA is the largest association of its kind in the UK and we will now be offering an increasing number of services to our Scottish landlord members.”

He added: “Nowadays there are a very wide range of issues which impact on landlords up and down the country and this development seeks to serve our Scottish members even more as they meet these challenges.”

The NLA represents around 14,000 landlords in the UK and aims to protect and promote their interests while raising standards of rented accommodation.
